My previous Norton projects have proved the validity of a light conception of the crankshaft combined with light pistons and the subsequent possibility of alteringthe balance factor in either way for a chosen mount.

Less stress on crankcases and bearings, less vibrations alltogether.

The Commando engine is a damned good one, but it needs to be assembled with care and skill, to offer performance and reliability.

My choice went for the 850 MK3, for the bigger bore and some standard improvements over the 750 versions.

My idea was to obtain the quicker revving ability of the best 750 cc without the extra stress put on the heavier 850 components.
